Theories of Migration, Epistemological Paradigms in the Social Sciences, and Social Conditions of Production
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper aims to historically situate the production of scientific knowledge concerning migratory phenomena. To this end, it reflects on the connection between the emergence and expansion of certain theoretical approaches and: a) the main criteria governing the production of scientific knowledge in general, and of the social sciences in particular, prevailing at the different historical moments in which those approaches developed; and b) the state of the social conditions of production and the tensions emerging from them in those historical contexts.
It is through the connection between these variables that three different moments can be recognized in the production of scientific knowledge on migration, each with its corresponding political effects.
