Reasons for Thinking About a Rhetoric of Culture

Abstract
This paper represents an advance in relation to previous studies within our research. We consider possible the articulation of rhetorical studies and cultural studies, going beyond analyses that approach discourses from traditional rhetorical perspectives.
Analyzing culture in its rhetorical dimension leads us to think not in terms of a single model of communication for each type of discourse, but rather to understand that the multiplicity of rhetorical codifications occurs in complex ways, sometimes simultaneously and integrally, and operates at different levels of intersection.
In order to advance in the theoretical conceptualization of the possibilities of a Rhetoric of Culture, in this text we develop what we have called “reasons to think...”: discursive reason, historical reason, political reason, aesthetic reason, and biorhetorical reason.
