On Violence: An Essay in the Style of Plato

Abstract
A priority and indispensable objective for advancing in the task of knowledge is to seek to circumscribe the term “violence”, since it encompasses diverse representations and discussions. This essay is the result of that concern and attempts to unveil the problem by using the literary form of dialogue.
Taking a traditional theory of conceptualization as its point of departure, the essay moves toward establishing violence as a relational category and outlines different directions for a conceptual analysis of the problem.
However, this general critical task is only a starting point: it merely sets us on the path of further questioning, opens up different facets for deepening the approach to a complex and historically variable object of study.
