Interactive Television: Let’s Play, but the Game Is Rigged
Main Article Content
Abstract
This work intends to show the limitations that television programs called “interactive” have when it comes to interaction. By means of a semiotic analysis of the Brazilian television program Você decide, broadcast by O Globo, we come to the conclusion that, by using some enunciative strategies—both audiovisual and linguistic—a kind of consensus is generated around values legitimized by power relationships. From this, it can be deduced that interactive programs are nothing more than reactive, or merely participatory, programs, and that, as a result, the possibility of a truly productive reading is denied.
