(The concept of power in Protagoras from Abdera: from the Platonic dialogue and through the work of José Solana Dueso)

Abstract
This article explores the notion of power in the context of the sophist Protagoras through a hermeneutic approach. The analysis begins with the work of José Solana Dueso, taking as a starting point his work “The Path of the Agora”. The research focuses on investigating Protagoras’ conception of power from the preserved fragments of the sophist where the dialogue “Protagoras” of Plato’s work and his version of the myth of Prometheus takes on special importance. Specifically, it explores how the notions of techne, kairos, aidos and dike contribute to the construction of his idea of power, his apology for democracy and the social origin of political virtue (arete politike) based on a situation of equality between men.
