In Search of Being in Estela Mamaní’s Voy siendo

Abstract
Poetry written by women in Jujuy has received increasing attention from literary scholars and readers alike. Estela Mamaní is one of the most recognized poets within the Jujuy literary field, despite having published only one book: Voy siendo (2001).
How can we approach this author’s poetics? Taking up the idea proposed by Roland Barthes (1987), we may say that we are only fragments of an amorous discourse. Thus, in this paper I seek to gather those fragments, to assemble the puzzle proposed by Estela Mamaní’s book, by analyzing some of its poems and following the traces of her path through literature.
Along this path, what appears thematized is our feeling of “being incomplete”. We live separated from the world; we are strange navigators, foreigners, in a sea into which we cannot plunge. This feeling of dissociation characterizes Estela Mamaní’s poetry. In it, the lyrical self attempts to overcome distances through literary creation. Language is the anchor.
