A (Re)vision of Myth and the Imaginary from the Perspective of C. S. Peirce’s Semiotics
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper presents a possible and fruitful theoretical intersection between the triadic semiotic model developed by C. S. Peirce and certain key notions from the social sciences, as formulated by some of their early thinkers, such as Durkheim and Sorel, as well as by modern continuators, such as Anderson and Kolakowski. Around the concepts of myth, ritual, and the imaginary, it is possible to establish a dialogue with the basic elements of Peircean semiotics. The purpose of this reflection is not so much to present a thesis on what the confluence between the social sciences and triadic semiotics might look like, but rather to point toward a possible path for future inquiry.
