Abstract
This research took place in vulnerable neighborhoods of La Rioja city (Argentina), its main objective was to describe the survival strategies used by women in these neighborhoods in order to make manifest his important role as generators of social capital.
This survey instrument was applied in three neighborhoods in the east side of La Rioja city, took a sample of 60 women selected intentional, for accessibility.
An ambiguous result was obtained: on the one side it was confirmed that women are the primary users of relational capital and worry that is not extinguished, on the other side, in the networks, which move their role is not valued more than as secondary or complementary.
The women in these sectors include the notion that work in the home should be done cooperatively, but in the daily organization inequalities are made visible.
Although they are the ones primarily responsible for building bridges between household members, community groups and institutions, themselves are considered subordinate to the authority of their partners.
The concepts social capital and social networks are complementary or different. Social capital is an individual resource or group generated. These are the questions that form the basis of theoretical discussion presented by this research.
