Abstract
This paper studies the «mestizo» group of Acatzingo (Puebla, New Spain) at the end of the eighteenth century. Located at the crossroads that connected Mexico City, Veracruz, and the Tierras Calientes, textile manufacturing was an important activity of the town. Determining the features that «mestizos» shared or did not share with the other non-indigenous groups (spatial distribution, sex, marital status, and occupation) allows us to make progress in our knowledge of the influence that ethnic structure had in the social relationships in New Spain.
