Identity and Discourse

Abstract
This article presents advances in the research project entitled “Possible Semiotic Worlds: Their Methodological Application in Verbal and Graphic Communication”, focusing mainly on the field of verbal communication and its connection with the discursive forms through which identity is constructed.
The article analyzes relevant aspects of the debate on identity and applies this analysis to a specific case related to the use of cultural identity as an object of discourse, both in the governmental sphere and in institutions that present themselves as “cultural” in the city of La Plata, Province of Buenos Aires.
