Archaeological Heritage and Linear Infrastructure Works: The Case of the Gas Pipeline and CTCC Salta Termoandes S.A. (Cobos, Gral. Güemes, Salta)

Abstract
During the construction of the Salta Termoandes S.A. thermoelectric power plant and its gas supply pipeline, we participated in one of the stages of the Environmental Impact Assessment process and in an archaeological rescue operation. As a result of this experience, we present the results obtained, which cover methodological and interpretive aspects of the archaeological record located and rescued during the works.
We consider that, at the professional level, we must address this need, which is oriented toward the management of archaeological heritage. To this end, we must make an effort to adapt theory, methodology, and technology to the solution of practical problems involved in Environmental Impact Assessment tasks throughout all their stages. This current situation requires the training of specialists capable of developing basic research together with the management of archaeological heritage.
