Abstract

This research work poses as its premise not to work from the discourse of the global policies of educational reform but from the identification and recovery of self-managed experiences effectively carried out in primary schools of the province of Jujuy.

Using a semi-structured questionnaire applied in September 1993, it was found that 63% of the schools acknowledged that some sort of self-managed innovation was under development. Later, the possibility of deepening the understanding of the “discourse” that supports the practices recognized as such emerged. With this in mind, Meetings for the Exchange of Educational Experiences were carried out in Humahuaca, Libertador General San Martín, Palpalá, and San Salvador de Jujuy.

In this work, some considerations extracted from those explanations of “teachers’ thought” are presented, which try to interpret, from their viewpoint: the reason and the purpose of their mobilization, the conditions associated with the emergence of this autonomous professional behaviour, how learning and its subjects are considered, how the achievements and results of the innovations are evaluated, etc.
