Educational Strategies in Families in Northern Córdoba
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article draws on the results of anthropological research which, through the analysis of cases of families of peasant origin living in northern Córdoba, seeks to explain and understand their educational strategies as part of the mechanisms of everyday and social reproduction. We identified a set of educational strategies, both formal and non-formal, common to the families studied, as well as some differential practices.
The research reconstructs family practices and representations concerning education, but also seeks to explain what the links are, and how they are produced, between the structuring of these family choices and decisions and broader social processes. The transformations of the rural social space of Tulumba, the process of depeasantization, and the progressive urbanization of the town become a fundamental analytical framework for understanding the way in which education is, or is not, included within the mechanisms of everyday survival and in the strategies that families construct in order to maintain or improve their social position within the system of class relations.
